September 12 2011 is Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Cake Festival Day in Asia. It is mostly celebrated by the Chinese and Vietnamese. It is basically to celebrate the harvest during the autumn. Here in the states, the closest thing to this would be Halloween, which was originally also meant to celebrate for the Autumn harvest. The Mid-Autumn Festival/Moon-Cake Festival also happened to fall on FULL-MOON this year, which is kind off cool. Like Halloween, this festival has also been commercialized to the point that the moon-cake comes in varieties of different fillings, made into specialized cakes etc. Not many people actually enjoy eating these decadent "cake", but WE (the wifey & I) enjoyed the ones the bought and looks forward to getting more AFTER the festival where they usually would go for BOGO (Buy One Get One Free) LOL!
